Oscars 2014 — Best Dressed

March 3, 2014

oscars best dressed

Are you as tired as I am? The Oscars always ends super late. Usually I’m bored to tears by the end, but last night’s was EPIC! Ellen had me laughing out loud (waking the hubby repeatedly) and the acceptance speeches were amazing. Lupita Nyong’o and Jared Leto both gave speeches that were super memorable — and brought me to tears! I was sad to miss Brad Pitt’s acceptance speech for 12 Years a Slave, but that’s what YouTube is for, right?

Anyhow, let’s get to the point of this post – which is to dish on all of the fabulous fashions that graced last night’s red carpet. I was WOW’d in so many ways. My trendspotting picked up on a few things — lots of blush fabrics, and neutral dresses with white or ivory embellishment. Metallic gowns, navy gowns and even black gowns were present (which you don’t always see on the red carpet). There were several bubble gum pink numbers, as well. Jessica Biel and Sandra Bullock both rocked Veronica Lake-esque hair and there were a LOT of white jackets on the men. Jared Leto, I love you and your ombre hair. Call me. Please call me. I’ll be waiting. Whoa…wait a minute, I’m sorry – I got distracted and went off on a tangent.

I loved SO many looks that I saw – the sparkling goodness that was Sally Field, the ruby red number Pink wore during her performance, the elegance and grace of Meryl Streep in her black and white dress. BUT – the stand outs to me are above. Charlize Theron, Lupita Nyong’o and Kate Hudson won, won, WON with their Oscar looks. Charlize – the illusion straps…the minimalist jewelry…the detail at the bottom of the dress AND the fabric  hugging your every curve. AHMAZING. Lupita — I’ve tried to remain outside of the hype surrounding you as to not seem like I’m “jumping on the bandwagon.” But, you were giving me Cinderella at the ball in the most modern and classy way possible last night. No way to deny your red carpet FIERCENESS. Kate? You pull off a metallic dress beautifully — without making it look like armor. I’m in awe of the perfect fit and flow of this gown.

I love the Oscars! Do you have a favorite look that I missed??

xoxo……..
