Scenes from A(nother) D.C. Weekend

March 11, 2012

If you follow this blog, you know that though I work in NYC (and live in North Jersey), I spend a lot of time in Washington, DC. I spent this weekend there to celebrate Mike’s last birthday as a bachelor. We stayed at Kimpton’s Hotel Madera, and took in the beautiful weather – such a great spring preview – check out the blue sky!

I took Mike to Lincoln,  a newish restaurant that pays homage to Honest Abe down to the penny-paved floor. It’s tapas style service, but the cuisine is contemporary American and highly delicious. Wish I could post some pics of the food, but the lighting was too dim. Nice for romance, bad for blog pics!

Next we headed to exclusive speakeasy The Gibson – a reservation-only cocktail bar. It was so dim that we needed candlelight to see the menu. If you have respect for creative mixology, this place should be high on your list.

Do you know D.C.? What are your favorite spots?
