A Fashionable Read from Abrams

April 3, 2011

My love affair with coffee table books began when I worked for Destination DC. I was often invited to attend art openings at museums throughout the city, and I’d usually leave with a gift. At the end of my four year tenure, I had accumulated a beautiful collection of keepsake books. Each one highlights a different exhibition.

I recently received a lovely new read to add to my collection from Abrams Books. “Fashion Box,” by Antonio Mancinelli was released in February and, through photography, celebrates 16 key wardrobe essentials. The LBD. Capri Pants. The Trench Coat. You get the idea.  It showcases photos of the iconic women who wore them well (think Marilyn Monroe, Eartha Kitt, Tina Turner, Grace Kelly) and also features gorgeous images of the modern-day celebs who reinterpret these classics today (like Angelina, Halle, SJP).

It serves as a great tool for outfit inspiration and would also make an awesome gift. Retails for $29.95; purchase here.

Here’s a peek inside – see how Tina’s workin’ those jeans:

And here’s how I have it displayed amongst a few other random reads, it’s pretty hefty at 480 pages. That’s BF Mike in the background making a cameo as he reads the Sunday NY Times! :0)
