Oscars Rewind: red on red, lampshades and more…

February 28, 2011

Did you watch the Oscars last night? I tuned in and found the show to be a bit of a snooze (with the exception of Christian Bale forgetting his wife’s name and those precious kids from PS22 singing Somewhere Over the Rainbow {tear}). The snoozeworthiness effect is ironic given Anne Hathaway’s hosting – which in my opinion, was a bit caffeinated. My favorite moment of the night was when Cate Blanchett proclaimed, “That’s Gross,” after watching a recap of The Wolfman’s special effects. Tee hee. But, let’s get on to the fashion – the main reason that most of us gals tuned in.

This year I was surprised to see so many celebs donning red gowns – J Hud, Penelope Cruz, Anne Hathaway and Jessica Lawrence, to name a few. My award for best (red) dressed, though, goes to Sandra Bullock in Vera Wang. She looked absolutely stunning. Can’t wait to check out Fashion Police to see if Joan agrees with me.

While celebs like Sandra were busy getting it right on the red carpet, there were others getting it Take Florence Welch in this Valentino Couture number. There is nothing I like about this frilly lampshade look. And her hair looks like she just rolled out of bed – for the most glamorous night of the year? Argh. First she weasels her way into the Aretha tribute at the Grammy’s and now this. I’m offended.

Carla- this is fab! So perfect for you :) You are so on point with the Oscars. Anne Hathaway was down right annoying! Thanks for paying that attention because I kept hearing how good she did while driving to work.

She totally agreed on the lamp shade!! Haha, I had a good laugh. They all loved Gywneth and Halle. I didn’t post about their dresses, but I agree that they looked super chic ;). Thanks for visiting/commenting – come back soon! xoxo
